Chapter Sixteen

"Emm," Taylor groaned as sunlight washed over his face. He looked over at Ashley, who was still sleeping silently against him, her arm across his bare chest, her head laying gently on his arm. He smiled and lightly brushed her tosuled hair off her forehead., trying not to wake her, but her eyes slowly fluttered open and focused on him.

She smiled. "Hey."

"Hey beautiful. How'd you sleep?" He asked, rubbing her cheek with his finger.

She buried her face against his arm. "Good. How about you?"

Taylor kissed her forehead. "Better than I have in weeks."

Ashley smiled and sat up. "What time is it?"

He lifted his wrist. "Ten thirty-seven."

"Ten thirty-seven?" Ashley exclaimed, eyes wide. She jumpped out of bed and started gathering her clothes. "I have to get home. We're going to get caught. We're going to be in so much trouble."

Taylor got up and turned her around and putting his arms around her, stopping her from picking up her clothing. "Ash, come on. We're not going to get in trouble." he started kissing her neck.

She smiled and put her arms around him.

He started to pull her shirt over her head, when the door suddenly burst open, causing them both to jump.

"Zac, wake up." Dawn rolled her eyes as she tried to wake her snoring boyfriend. She wasn't getting very far. "Zac, come on. Wake up." An idea suddenly formed in her head. She leaned down and gently kissed him on the lips. And as she expected...he was still sleeping. "Damn," he muttered. She picked up her pillow and started to hit him with it.

He jumpped up. "Damn it, Dawn. What the hell are you doing?"

She stopped hitting him and smiled. "Wake up. It's almost eleven o'clock."

Zac yawned and streched his arms over his head.

Dawn laughed. "Hurry up and get dressed before my parents get home."

He nodded and stood up, grabbing his shirt and pulling over his head. "What time are they supposed to be home?"

She shrugged. "I think around twelve-thirty or one. That's why I wanted you to get your cute little butt up. Go downstairs, I'll be down in a few minutes after I get dressed."

"But..."

"No buts. Now go." she pushed him gently out the door and turned to get dressed. She pulled on a new pair of jeans and a baby-tee and pulled her hair into a ponytail and secured it with a rubber band. She sprayed on some CK one and went downstairs. She found Zac sitting on the couch, her parents sitting on the love seat, looking directly at her in disapointment.

"Ashley, come out of there!" Taylor called to her through the bathroom door. He could hear her crying.

"Taylor, get over here and leave her alone for a minute, I want to talk to you."

He sighed and sat down on his bed and covered his face with his hands. I'm so stupid. "God, I'm in so much trouble."

Isaac laughed. "Gees Tay, calm down. I'm not going to tell mom and dad."

"Not with them, with Ashley! Just before you barged in, I told her we weren't going to get caught or get in trouble." he sighed again. "She's going to kill me."

Slowly, the bathroom door opened and Ashley walked out, completely dressed, red faced, and crying.

Taylor got off the bed and went over to her, and wrapped his arms around her. "Ashley, come on, calm down."

"Ash, it's no big deal. I'm going to say anything." Isaac told her.

She didn't look at him. She couldn't. He had caught Taylor taking her shirt off. Maybe it's a good thing he came in when he did. If he had walked in a few minutes later... she though. Suddenly she didn't feel so good.

"Mom...Dad. You're home early." Dawn studdered.

"Yeah we are." Mr. Smith said, annoyed. "We couldn't stand staying in that place a second longer."

Dawn took a deep breath. Maybe I'm not in trouble. "Why, what happened?"

"You're cousin Jason happened." her mother sighed heavily. "He's so spoiled. Kyren and Dave do everything for that boy at his command. The boy's only eleven and has a nose ring."

Dawn sat next to Zac on the couch. "A nose ring? Jason? The last time I saw him, he was the sweetest little boy. Ash and I baby sat him all the time..." she explained to Zac.

Mr. Smith looked around. "Speaking of Ashley, where is she?"

Damn. Dawn tried to think fast, but Zac came to her rescue.

"Taylor dropped me off here this morning and took Ashley out for breakfast." he told her parents. "That's why I'm here so early."

Her parents nodded. "Okay. How come you two didn't go with them?"

Zac and Dawn exchanged glances. "I promised Dawn I would make her breakfast, so...here I am."

"Okay. Well, you're father and I are going to go unpack now. Tell Ashley to let us know when she's home."

Dawn stood and took Zac's hand. "Okay, mom. Uh, we're gonna go for a walk. We'll be back soon." and without waiting for a reply, she pulled Zac out of the house.

Ashley waited outside in the car for Taylor to come out, nervously drumming her fingers on the stirring wheel to the music on the radio. She wanted to get home. She wasn't feeling good at all. Her stomach ached vishously, and her head was pounding.

Finally, Taylor ran out the door and jumpped into the car. He leaned over and kissed her. "Sorry that took so long. I had to throw the sheets in the closet before someone found them."

She nodded and put the car into reverse and started to back down the driveway.

It was then Taylor noticed the color of Ashley's skin. She didn't look good. "Babe?"

She breifly took her eyes off the road and looked over at him "Yeah?"

He put the back of his hand on her forehead, then her cheek. "You're burning up. Are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm fine. I guess i'm just still a little spooked by Isaac walking in on us."

Taylor placed his hand on her knee. She had cold bumps. Cold bumps? In July? "Ash, pull over at the drug store."

Ashley suddenly felt dizzy, and without any questions, she pulled into the parking lot of Ekard's.

Taylor unbuckled his seat belt and got out of the car, walking over to the driver side. "Scoot over. I'll drive you home."
